Creating Lesson Plans for Diverse and Inclusive Settings.

Creating Lesson Plans for Diverse and Inclusive Settings.

Aug 15, 2020

An essential part of educating diverse students at our school includes a well laid out lesson plan. That is where it all begins for us as educators at Honeycomb College.

Our teachers are encouraged to do their own lesson planning as they usually structure it according to their individual teaching styles and needs of the students. This element is essential to ensure we create a truly diverse learning environment.

It is important to consider the content/resources from the syllabus as this also plays a big role in building up of lesson plans and should be considered when doing the planning.

Teachers are required to first activate the learners prior knowledge before introducing new content. They are encouraged to incorporate various methods of presenting the lessons, such as visualizations, as these help students achieve their objectives. Visualizations is a great way to help students apply what they have learnt to the real world.

Our teachers are encouraged to evaluate their lesson plans on a regular basis to ensure it meets the needs of their diverse learners. With their lesson plans and learning objectives, there is a daily guide of what the students are required to learn.

The readings from the unit extended my knowledge about the importance of identifying the lesson objectives and relating these to the learners needs.
