Elements of Classroom Management & The Positive Classroom.

Based on my own experience as a principal, virtuous teachers are worth gold, especially in a country such as ours with most qualified teachers leaving our shores due to crime and other political issues. We aim to have a close relationship with our teachers with the hope of developing well rounded teachers.

My philosophy as a principal is to have a close relationship with teachers through transparency and open communication, which aim to lay the foundation for teachers to incorporate a positive attitude into their classroom and teaching values and beliefs. By showing my teachers that I care about them on a personal level, they are likely to use these qualities towards their students. My best teachers are caring, warm and firm in their discipline methods. Teachers are prompted to know their subject content, to encourage students to be on their best behaviour and give them positive comments/feedback with regards to their educational needs.

Choe, Y. (n.d.).  piece of writing would like us to consider that a principal can ‘make or break’ a school further stating that it is a teacher who ‘makes or breaks’ a classroom.  This suggests that teachers can choose their attitude, and if they would like to create a classroom in which students gravitate towards or away from.  As the review suggests, teachers often blame disrespectful, disruptive kids when having difficulty in a classroom, however, if teachers change their attitude, have fewer class rules, refrain from fuelling conflict and try to find something nice or significant about students, they will unintentionally create a classroom in which students would gravitate towards.
