Curriculum Development

Reflecting on the idea of curriculum mapping, according to the research done by Mengi, B. & Olgun, K., Pinar & Pilli, Olga & Yildirim, H. (2004) curriculum design can be identified through cognitive mapping to identify future needs of students. This idea is also supported by research done by The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, that state that a cocept map is similar to that of a flowchats in a way that it is also used to represent knowledge and show connections between models.

Research suggests that deeper level of learning can be achieved through the technique of mind mapping.  Interestingly enough, the review points out that in Turkey future curriculum experts used mindmapping as a tool to map their perceptions and experiences into a joint perspective of curriculum design.

The review by The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga would like us to believe that a concept map can be used as exceptional organization plan for teaching.

According to the review by Mengi, B. & Olgun, K., Pinar & Pilli, Olga & Yildirim, H. (2004), the brain storming sessions appeared to improve some of their issues relating to curriculums.

And, as their research shows, the mind mapping method contributed to an improvement of the graduate program and, as quoted  ‘the practice provided the opportunity to engage in a meaningful process of learning’.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga backs the idea that mapping certain concepts can help develop courses that shows continuity and that is well-integrated.

The idea of Concept mapping seem to support an all-inclusive style of education.
