Curriculum and evaluation

During my years in the educational field, I have come to understand that there are three different types of assessments; diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to use for assessing student achievements.

I also believe that multiple factors play a role in student achievements such as teachers and parents involvement, how motivated the student is to learn and even peer influence. Student behaviour is another aspect I believe play a major role in student learning and achievement.

Some effective strategies we use to assess student achievement in our milieu is with goal setting, whereby students are given instructions to complete a certain task or an activity. The goals are defined for the students and they are measured according to the goals completed. For example, students are given clear goals if they are asked to complete an activity such as making of a volcano for science.
Teachers are asked to make the goals clear and to define it well so that the students are aware of the requirements to achieve this goal.
Teachers can then monitor their progress and assess the outcomes accordingly.
