Curriculum and the educator.

Curriculum and the educator.

At Honeycomb College we believe that every child in South Africa is entitled to learn and grow in a nurturing environment regardless of their learning problems. Honeycomb College is also a place for students with learning problems such as ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), and Dyslexia. School is not just about memorising facts and figures.

It is a learning style that promotes Independent Learning and stimulates the development of Logic and Reasoning within each and every child!

Every child is registered with CAPS or GED® learning curricula, they receive daily lessons and we ensure they complete their required tasks and preset work and activities on a daily basis.  We assist them with one-on-one explanations when they have questions and need help.

The CAPS curriculum we offer to the juniors is part of the department of education syllabus, and the GED learning program is one that I developed with the GED as our baseline and incorporated critical thinking and outcomes based education with the program. The syllabus is used across South Africa and we have students is foreign countries using it aswell, the website is called GETeducare.co.za   The syllabus grew out of a need for students who do not fit the frame of mainstream schooling, for kids from grade 1 and up.

The learning program is administered by myself and two other people and there are numerous tutors that support us to modify the curriculum objectives when a situations arise. I would like to think we make a difference in the lives of many students.
The program is flexible, and even older people who want to complete their high schooling can do so part time from home, online. The school age students can work from home or join a centre to get assistance. The reason why we promote the GED here is due to the fact that it does not impede student learning in the way the CAPS syllabus does.

It aims to help students think critically and become independent learners through outcomes based education.
